Writing Concrete Poems in Library Class! @resvt #vsla #vted

 One-word concrete poem: "Flying"
Can you see the "L" flying?

In collaboration with their classroom unit on poetry, RES second graders have been learning about and writing concrete poems in their library classes. Concrete poems, also known as shape poems, are poems where the arrangement of words or letters on the page add to the meaning of the poem.

Students shared several books of concrete poetry, then they wrote their own. We are so impressed with their creativity!

2nd Grade Golf Field Trip

Do you enjoy spending time on the golf course?  Have you ever wondered what golf really is?  We need parent volunteers to make our day at Cedar Knoll Country Club both fun and successful.  You don't have to know anything about golf to help us out.  We need parents to chaperone groups as they take part in stations and parents to help supervise stations.  No worries, we will give you everything you need to run a station.

Our trip is on Tuesday, June 6 with the rain date being on Thursday, June 8.

Please email Marie Ayer at marie.ayer@cesuvt.org if you are able to help out on either of those days.

What do we know about Chinese culture? RES Second Graders Share

As part of their Comparing Cultures unit, second graders at RES learned about different aspects of Chinese culture including education, food, the arts, language, celebrations, and clothing.  Mrs. Robinson's class put together this Voicethread slideshow with text, audio, and video comments about what they learned. We hope you enjoy it!
